Seventh Sunday of Easter—May 29th, 2022
Happy Sunday! Pentecost Sunday will soon be here. Is it evident to others you belong to Christ? Live for Him? Follow his plan for your life? This week St. Bernadette’s relics, on tour in the US for the first time, arrived in NH. One greeter mentioned about his helping to ‘unpack her’ from the crate. He was referring to the sizable reliquary. The small country church was packed. They brought ‘Lourdes to the pilgrims’ thru a slide show and procession to generate the relics and processed again to experience fresh Lourdes water. All ages, priests, babies, school children, religious, and all ages in between participated. Life was far from easy for St. Bernadette. When they exhumed her body they found she was incorruptable. Would those who met her and her poor family with her father who struggled to find employment as a Miller have seen her sanctity? They reported there have been 70 miracles confirmed by the Vatican with St. Bernadette and Lourdes water. There is another medical committee at Lourdes who reviews reports to substantiate unexplainable ‘cures.’ The beauty of this simple country church and town made possible veneration of the relics. May God continue to increase our faith, grant miracles and foster cures. St. Bernadette, pray for us! Come Holy Spirit!

Studying in Jerusalem several years ago, I was very moved by the power the Sabbath has to reclaim and rejuvenate lives of believers, a time for complete rest.
