Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God- January 1, 2017

Happy Sunday!

Wishing a Happy New Year to all visitors!  So how will this Sunday be any different?? This year we are blessed to also celebrate the Holy Day and Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God!  Our faith is a gift like the love of a parent, unmerited from the moment of conception.  God sent Mary into the world with a distinct mission as the holy mother of God, Jesus!  Grace was her life, Our Lady of Grace!

By the foreseen merits of her son, Jesus, she married Joseph in spite of societal pressures, which was skeptical to the truth of the womb, a miracle within!  As if that was not enough God also blesses Elizabth and Zachariah with a long awaited child!  Another miracle!  Things get turned in the way of Christ- shepherds take time away from the fields to follow the words of an angel to find their long awaited Messiah!  The three kings understood discernment and took a different way home.  Joseph, foster father who withstood the norms and married Mary, anyway, and ensured their safety by listening to his dream rather than what everyone else was saying.  Can you believe this?  Really believe it for your life too?  Gentlemen, Joseph's chivalry is so needed today whether you are a young student, priest, married husband, single or widowed.  Joseph never left Mary.  Women do we find in Mary our hope for motherhood in loving those God sends to us?  Check out 'Redemptoris Mater' by JPII:

Wishing the love of Mary in your heart this Sunday!

I do appreciate your way of evangelization in this year of Faith. On the day of Lord, let us do those that foster our relation with him: mass, scripture reading

Studying in Jerusalem several years ago, I was very moved by the power the Sabbath has to reclaim and rejuvenate lives of believers, a time for complete rest.
