Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time-July 31, 2016

Happy Sunday!

The missionary began with the fact that Kenyans in some areas receive the Eucharist every three months.  Think of that for a time.  It would be as if we were well into fall and about to celebrate Thanksgiving in the US.  When we have ready access we can forget the preciousness of the gift of the Eucharist.  The missionary spoke of washed out roads and transportation challenges.  Driving a few minutes to church suddenly looks new!  So we grow in understanding the 'gift.'  Fr. Jamel lost his life this week in a church celebrating the Eucharist.  These two witnesses this week prepared for a Sunday that stands apart.  Surely the millions in Poland for World Youth Day may write the same.  As we grow in our identity as an ecclesial body we come to learn how we are actually united.  If such loss does not move us, what will it take???  Prophets spoke truth to power often at great cost in their own lives.  It cost John the Baptist his life.  For every missionary bringing the Gospel to difficult terrain, we pray for you.  Fr. Jamal we trust in God and your witness in the face of our hardened hearts.  We have seen and heard the cry of the poor!!  Sunday awakens us to the truth of the resurrection!  Lord open us to your holy will!  Pope Francis asked the youth not to fall into 'sofa happiness!!' Move us toward love Lord!  Keep us ever ready to hear your whisper, this is the way walk in it!  At we offer prayers for missionaries, marriage and hope in eternal life!

I do appreciate your way of evangelization in this year of Faith. On the day of Lord, let us do those that foster our relation with him: mass, scripture reading

Studying in Jerusalem several years ago, I was very moved by the power the Sabbath has to reclaim and rejuvenate lives of believers, a time for complete rest.

Sunday is the day of the Lord. Let us come to Him as a family specially on this day to celebrate him and share the joy with others present in the church
