Happy Sunday!
Today is Pentecost Sunday! The psalm: Lord pour out your spirit and renew the face of the earth! When the disciples were huddled in the locked upper room
surely trust appeared weak. Yet the spirit enters dispute the locked doors! This was like running a marathon with thousands and friends mentioned meeting at mile 15. Before the day of electronic tracking it seemed less likely as the crowd
of runners entered the half point. However the face of a friend is very recognizable to the beloved. There crouching in a 'ready position' was the friend holding a pack of lifesavers in each hand. The
friend called the name and a surge of the spirit filled the lungs of the runner. The lifesavers were passed off like a baton in the hand of a teammate. Words of encouragement were shouted out and a confirmation that you will make it! For
the first time marathoner that was a turning point. With a lifesaver under the tongue and the admonitition of hope a reality was realized after 26.2 miles. More importantly it taught that friends can and do find one another in a crowd. The
Holy Dpirit found the discies in the locked room timid and fearful. After the encounter they departed filled with the spirit of fortitude, courage and purpose of mission! Lord, fill us with the fire of your love! We trust you will free us
from every hindrance to run to the finish line!
Come Holy Spirit!
Peace!
