Happy Sunday!
Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!
reclaimsunday.net wishes you a deepening life of prayer in 2018! We are
grateful that you visit here to pause and consider the gift of Sunday. Sundays are the little Easters of the weeks! When serving in the field the sanctuary of peace is our home.
The church places
before us this feast of the Holy Family. The family is under strain by the culture. The church family too experiences it's own challenges. Yet into this a Christ child is born! Parents so profoundly in love with God they overcome the
limitations of circumstances. So we are invited into the manger during this Octave of Christmas. Will you approach this poor humble dwelling to hold the prince of peace? Can the judgements of this world be laid down to enter the mystery from
God's plan?
In all of this during an errand to buy milk a young woman made her purchases in line first. She could be heard sniffling and taking out a tissue to attend to the winter's cold. Looking
around at the market driven St. Valentine's chocolates and Easter bunnies and eggs the commercialism of our beloved Christmas was relegated to a shelf of 75% off. Imagine and in the church we are still in the Octave! Then looking up, could see
the young woman was crying, tears rolling down her face while she received change from the cashier. Who knows why she was weeping. A moment of solidarity offered words of wellness hoping she is better soon. But there are silent
crosses people carry, that are there at Christmas when the family is highlighted. She may be suffering in a way known only to God. May we offer this feast day for the Blessed trust Joseph extended to expectant Mary while fostering Jesus.
Also in 2018 may Sunday open our horizons to Heaven and beyond the technology screen and to caring to the tears of His lambs.
Peace!
