This Sunday we heard the word from 1 Corinthians 12:12-30. It highlights our belonging to the body of Christ. "If one part suffers, all the parts suffer
with it; if one part is honored, all parts share it's joy." How we especially experience this when we gathered for the liturgy, and witnessing to life this week in holy hours and marches. After a strong snow the early Mass goers were met with a
' highway to heaven' boulevard clearing by the industrious folks rising early to make a safe pathway. So many go before us to mark the way, clear debris and wave us toward the entry!
When a pastor
loses a parent the faithful enter into a time of prayer. For the flock draw closely to those to tenderly tend their souls. When a parent of a priest passes perhaps The Lord may point to them the thousands of spiritual children they have grandparented
but will never meet. For many are the sheep of a priest. From the lost and forsaken welcomed into the church thru Baptism, or anointing of the ill and weak, or radiant bride and groom who will be a perpetual remembrance in their lives or the newly
vested ordinands who was called to dress the new priest. All of these are in part your legacy from the loving heart of your son, a catholic priest who you unselfishly shared with the holy mother church. Lord on this day of resurrection, look after
the priests who have lost a parent. Let them find in their flock a purpose of continuing to cleave to life to carry on with courage to bring the Gospel to every corner they travel.
The body of Christ is
about a life of resurrection and eternal life!
