Happy Pentecost Sunday!
Welcome to www.reclaimsunday .net! We are attempting to serve as heralds of the unique role of Sunday in our lives. It is possible! On this Sunday the Holy Spirit entered the
lives of the disciples though through locked doors, barricaded due to their fears. The Holy Spirit passes through all barriers. This is a consolation! We may even be unaware of ways that we are are closing our lives
off from the transformation Christ offers. He speaks to them saying, "Peace be with you." See John 20:19-23. He then instructs them to receive (the Holy Spirit) and forgive. These are very unique birthday presents for the Church!
We may ask, in light of reclaiming Sunday, how may a better practice of Sunday with God as first thought, first love and first breath reorder our time? Parishes are places of the kingdom of God, even with all our strengths and weaknesses. In a
recent morning of reflection we gathered on a Saturday to prepare for instruction on Penecost followed by a lunch together. For our small group discussion the opening conversation starter was posed: "When I gather with my parish community to celebrate
the Mass, I feel..." Such replies were presented: Unity, Renewed, Happier, Sharing, Peace, Excited, Look Foward to, Belonging, Solidarity, Bringing All Needs From Week. Imagine when this is magnified world-wide in our Catholic parishes! Reflecting
on the gifts of Holy Spirit may be a time today to thank God for the gift of our lives, our brothers and sisters in Christ, our pastors and all yet to know Christ.
